A Lip Reader Shares What Harry Said To Meghan In Their Post-Ceremony Carriage Ride
After a gorgeous wedding and an iconic kiss in front of St George's Chapel, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took off in a 6.5-mile carriage ride because #tradition (and also because everyone and their not-so-royal mum wants a glimpse of the newly marrieds on the big day).
Amidst the din of the cheering crowds that lined both sides of their route, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, or shall we say, "Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex," exchanged a few key words that none of the bystanders could have possibly heard. Luckily James Freestone, professional lipreader at , caught the convo.
Throughout the ride, Freestone says, Meghan expresses her aw at the entire experience: "Wow," she says, clearly impressed. "How sweet."
At one point, Freestone says, she pointed to someone in the crowd and remarked, "How busy." Indeed! Imagine you were the focal point of this kind of statewide celebration: You'd be saying the same exact thing.
Perhaps since he's more accustomed to attention — and ever the jokester — Prince Harry's response was lighthearted. Around 1:31pm, he said to Meghan, "I'm ready for a drink now," Freestone claims.
And doesn't the groom deserve a cocktail at this point?! (Don't we all?) What. A. Day. CHEERS!
