How to cure a crack?

The most common cause of painful cracks on the heels is excessive keratinization of the skin, which can be caused by wearing uncomfortable shoes. Therefore, especially often cracks on the heels appear in the summer, when we wear slippers, sandals or sandals that constantly slam on the heels on the bare foot, on our bare feet.

In addition, the cause of the formation of cracks can be a fungal infection, lack of vitamins in the body (especially A and E), resulting from malnutrition, or some serious common diseases, in particular - diabetes.

We treat cracked heels

Treatment of cracks on the heels is usually carried out at home with the help of various folk remedies - foot baths, compresses or home-made ointments. Let's look at how to cure a crack in various ways.

Starch bath

In the evening, before going to bed, pour three liters of warm water into the basin, pour three tablespoons of potato starch into it, put your feet in the basin and keep them there for at least half an hour, pour warm water into the basin. At the end of the procedure, with a piece of pumice, very gently peel away the horny skin, lubricate the heels with Vaseline or baby cream and put on thin cotton socks. Do starch baths every evening until the cracks on the heels are not tightened.

Linseed bath

To prepare this bath, take 3-4 tablespoons of flax seeds, pour them with two cups of boiling water, put a saucepan with seeds in a water bath and warm it there for a quarter of an hour. After that, slightly cool the broth, strain it through a strainer, pour it into a small basin and add one and a half to two liters of water. Dip your feet in the broth and keep your feet in the pelvis for a quarter of an hour. For greater efficiency, flax decoction can be diluted not with water, but with strained decoction of potato peelings (a handful of peel per liter of water). At the end of this procedure, try not to wipe your feet, let them dry in the air.

Ointment from vegetable oil and beeswax

Heat half a cup of vegetable oil (olive or sunflower) in a saucepan to t 40 * C and remove the saucepan from the stove. Put a piece of natural wax the size of a walnut in hot oil.Stir this mixture until the wax is completely melted, then add one teaspoon of glycerin and sea buckthorn oil to it, mix again, put the ointment in a glass jar with a lid and store it in the refrigerator.

Onion ointment

Heat a glass of unrefined sunflower oil in a pan and put in it two finely chopped medium onions. Fry the onions in the butter until light brown. Remove the pan from the stove, immediately strain the mixture through a sieve - you do not need onions anymore, and in a hot oil from frying put a piece of beeswax the size of a matchbox, stir the ointment until the wax melts. Pour the ointment into a jar and put it in the fridge.

All ointments for treating cracks, including those mentioned above, should be applied to the heels only after steaming and removing the cornified skin. Therefore, it is convenient to apply them in the evenings, after taking a foot bath. Ointment is applied on cracked heels, put on socks and go to bed. In the morning they make a foot bath again, scrub softened, dead skin, thoroughly wipe their feet and lubricate their heels with a moisturizing foot cream.

Heel Crack Compresses

It is possible to cure a crack on the heel using a compress from grated apple or grated onion, a compress of sour milk or a compress from cabbage leaves smeared with honey.

All compresses impose overnight after steaming and cleansing the skin on the heels. One of the above means is applied to the heels, a compress is covered with a gauze cloth, a plastic wrap on top (for convenience, you can simply put a plastic bag on your leg), then wear cotton socks and keep the compress on sick heels until the morning. In the morning, they wash their feet with warm water, scrub their limp dead skin off their heels and smear their heels with foot cream.

If the cracks are caused by a fungal infection of the feet, you need to consult a dermatologist, who will select the necessary treatment and prescribe any antimycotic drug, for example, Lamisil, Clotrimazole or Exoderil.
