Warm temperatures to last most of the week
Britain will enjoy another few days of glorious spring sunshine after an unseasonably warm weekend, forecasters predict.
After the temperatures rose as high as59F (15C)in parts of the country on Sunday, making it thehottest day of the year so far, forecasters said the best of the warm spell is yet to come. Monday could see temperatures peak at up to 62F (17C), with Tuesday and Wednesday also predicted to remainmild and dryacross much of Britain.
Just weeks after many of us were wrapping up againstsnow and freezing conditions, thousands of people headed for beaches yesterday to lap up theunexpected sunshine. Resorts along the south coast and in the west country saw an unusually early influx of day-trippers, many of whom stripped off to shorts and bikinis.
Parts of eastern England were on Sunday thehottest places in Europe, matching temperatures inItalyandGreece. Met Office forecaster Nigel Bolton, said: ‘There is a large area of high pressure coming up from the Azores and that is going to remain over us for a few days, bringing fine and settled weather.
