What is an amphitheater?

To find out what an amphitheater, you should refer to the history textbook. After all, it is in the annals of the history of ancient Greece that we will find the origin of the word “amphitheater”.

Amphitheater literally means “bilateral theater” in Greek. Such round open constructions at that time were used for gladiator fights, baiting of wild animals or theatrical performances. Such a theater was called a double because it was designed as a combination of two theaters with a horseshoe-shaped standard for those times. The convenience of such a construction was that the seats of the spectators were located on elevations of different heights, not obscuring the view of the stage, and the arcades distributed around the outer perimeter gave access to the stairs, which, extending upwards, prevented the occurrence of the crowd.

Today, the amphitheater called places in the auditorium, which are located behind the orchestra on stepped elevations, similar to those in ancient amphitheaters.
